Welcome to the home of Quahog Dogs Microchipping
- Let Us Give You The Needle!
Although not yet compulsory, microchipping your pet is one of the two available methods used to identify lost pets (the other being the ear tattoo).
Each year more than 300,000 treasured pets go missing. They can become scared of fireworks or thunderstorms, wander too far from a new house or simply get lost whilst investigating smells or noises. Microchipping your pet provides the ultimate assurance that should your pet go missing, it can be easily identified. You may also avoid the possibility of your pet being rehomed or kept in a shelter.
The process consists of a small microchip (see photo below) being inserted just under your pet's skin, between his shoulder blades, using a needle. It's all done in a matter of seconds and will last the lifetime of your pet. We can microchip most small mammals, from small furries to as big as alpacas!
You can either come to us or we can come to you, either way avoiding the stressful noises, sights and smells of the vets waiting room. We are frequently asked to attend dog shows, village fairs and country shows to provide on-site chipping.
Most importantly, we implant the microchip into your pet in front of you. We do not take your pet away into a side room so you can't watch the process and be near your pet. Obviously, if you prefer not to watch, you don't have to, but the choice is yours.
We charge £10 (Reduced rates for large litters are available). The only other cost is a nominal amount towards our petrol costs - if we come to you. We do not charge extortionate amounts when asking for the cost of fuel, just what we use to get to you and home again.
The microchip will remain with your pet for it's whole life. It has a unique identification code which is detected by a scanner. This code is then used to retrieve your details from a database and then your pet can be reunited with you.
Your chip number will be registered straight away (depending on mobile broadband connection). All our chips are registered with the UK's largest pet database, Petlog.
The microchips we use can be read by any specialist scanner. Nearly all vets, dog wardens and rescue centres have at least one scanner.
By law, we must check for an existing chip before starting. We cannot insert another chip if an existing one is found, however we can advise on what you need to do to rectify the situation.
We are fully insured as microchippers and are very experienced at implanting microchips. If you have any questions before or after we microchip your pet, we will be happy to help.
Please feel free to call us if you have any other questions or would like your pet to be microchipped.
